I love poems like this with a repeated line - you just know it's building toward something, from the lovely images at first to the poignancy at the end.
And I'm cheering on the person in the poem for taking the walk at midnight in the first place - if that's what one *can* do, then live it to the hilt.

It was a wonderful walk! Only made it two houses down from my home (a few hundred feet) before I had to turn around but it was lovely!
